A joint communiqué on the establishment of the diplomatic ties was signed by Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Ambassador Cosmos Richardson, head of Saint Lucia’s Permanent Mission to the UN, in New York on Tuesday. Saint Lucia holds an important position in the Caribbean and belongs to many regional and global organizations. The establishment of the ties will create a firm foundation to boost multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries. The event reflects Vietnam’s foreign policy of diversification and multilateralisation of international relations, and attaching importance to relations with Latin American nations.
