(VOVworld) - Puerto Iguazú city in Misiones province, northeastern Argentina, wants to establish a twin relationship with Vietnam’s Halong city to together promote the tourism potential of the two cities who each have new world wonders. In a meeting on Sunday between the Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina, Nguyen Dinh Thao, and Juan Jose Raynoldi, Chief of the Office of local authorities, Argentinean leaders of the tourism sector said they will soon begin proceedings with Halong authorities.

During a visit at the invitation of Julia Argentina Perie, Chairwoman of the Argentina-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, Thao attended an exhibition featuring Vietnam’s land, people, and traditional costumes, met with local businesses, and talked with students at the National University of Misiones about Vietnam. He met with Vietnamese people living in Misiones, where the Vietnamese population is most densely concentrated among Argentina’s localities.

Mrs. Perie took this occasion to present Thao with the decision made by the legislative council of Posadas city to name a local street “Vietnam”, the first street ever in Argentina to have the name.
