Vietnam strengthens cooperation with the British Council in culture creativity

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong called for the British Council’s continued support for Vietnam in cultural and creative sectors while meeting with the Council leaders in Glasgow, Scotland, on Tuesday.

Mr. Cuong was accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during a trip to the UK to attend the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties.

He appreciated the British Council's coordination and support for Vietnam in implementing the strategy for the development of cultural industries, contributing to preserving traditional cultural values as well as strongly promoting creativity for sustainable development of culture and society in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister called for more assistance for Vietnam to develop cultural industries and apply IT to the creation of arts, suggesting the Council share experience and knowledge to help the country carry out a project on developing creative cities for joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, and capitalize on cultural heritage in tourism development.

The British Council representative said Vietnam has a particularly important position in the Council's activities. The British Council agreed to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize programs and events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK in 2023.
