Vietnam succeeds to control gender ratio at birth for the first time

(VOV) – Vietnam has managed to control the gender ratio at birth to 0.4 percentage points compared to 1.15 in the last period.

Head of the Department of Population and Family Planning, Duong Quoc Trong said so at a ceremony to mark Vietnam’s Population Day today/ on Tuesday in Hanoi. Trong said the number of prenatal diagnosis in mothers and children has considerably increased this year. Models and projects to improve the quality of the population are effectively implemented. Vietnam will have to face difficulties and challenges to control gender ratio at birth, improve the quality of the population and adjust birth rate in different areas and regions. The Depart of Population and Family Planning also called on its staff to work with sectors and agencies and encouraged the people to implement effectively the population policies of the Party and State.
