Mr. Quy said that over the past 2 years, Vietnam’s status in the Council has been taken up a notch.

“We have contributed to ensuring the rule of law in issues relating to global peace and security, promoting the protection of civilians particularly women and children, and responding to non-traditional challenges including climate change and sea level rise. We have promoted cooperation between regional and sub-regional organizations and cooperation between them and the UN in safeguarding peace and stability,” he said.

Ambassador Quy said during its 2020-2021 tenure, Vietnam attended 840 sessions at the ambassadorial level and initiated 2 resolutions and 3 presidential statements which were adopted by the UN Security Council.
