Vietnam supports WTO’s reform process
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam comprehensively supports the reform process of the World Trade Organization in order to improve the organization’s functions, in particular the early and complete restoration of the Dispute Settlement System, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said Monday.

Meeting with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in Geneva on the sidelines of the 17th negotiation session on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Tan said Vietnam is actively preparing for the 3rd Trade Policy Review scheduled to take place in November 2026 and for the 20th anniversary of its WTO entry next year.
Deputy Minister Tan said Vietnam has completed ratification procedures for the Fisheries Subsidies Agreement (Phase 1), and has enabled the agreement to take effect on September 15, 2025.
Vietnam has officially approved its participation in the Multi-Party Interim Appeal (MPIA) arbitration arrangement. The country is in the process of finalizing procedures to join e-commerce initiative, which will open up new opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to access international markets.
