Vietnam, Sweden develop relations with Vice President’s visit

(VOVWORLD) -Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan will begin an official visit to Sweden from Sunday to Wednesday and will meet with top leaders of the Swedish Parliament and Government as well as experts who have close relationships with Vietnam.

A number of cooperation memorandums between ministries of the two countries are expected to be signed. The visit will also contribute to Vietnam's commitment to creating a stable and favorable environment for Swedish investors to do business in Vietnam.

Vice President Xuan will attend the Vietnam-Sweden business roundtable on digital transformation and sustainable development. It is expected that the two countries will announce the opening of a direct shipping route between Vung Tau Port (Vietnam) and Gothenburg Port (Sweden).

Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 11, 1969. Over the past 55 years, the two sides have signed 107 agreements and 12 bilateral deals. 42 agreements and deals remain in effect now, creating an important foundation for promoting practical cooperation in the new era.
