Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the UN, said that in the third cycle of the Universal Periodic Review, out of 291 recommendations, Vietnam accepted 241 recommendations including strengthening the legal system, strengthening measures to protect political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights, and promoting dialogue and cooperation with the human rights mechanisms of the United Nations.

Ambassador Quy emphasized that Vietnam, a country heavily affected by climate change, always does its best to mitigate climate change.  In 2014, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and the Philippines co-authored the Resolution on Climate Change and Human Rights, which focuses on children, women, and people with disabilities. Approaching the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN, themed "The future we want. The United Nations we need”, Ambassador Quy urged the international community to be committed to enhancing the UN's role and capacity to meet people’s aspirations and realize its commitment to building a better future for everyone.
