“Vietnam's maritime law enforcement forces are closely monitoring all relevant developments and are resolutely and persistently protecting the enforcement of Vietnam's lawful rights and interests in its waters in accordance with international law, the United Nations International Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) and Vietnamese law,” Thang said.

On May 25, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested China’s relevant agencies to comply with the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders and immediately stop the violation, withdraw the vessel, coast guard ships and fishing vessels from Vietnamese waters.

Vietnam also demanded China to respect Vietnam's sovereign rights and jurisdiction, strictly implement the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), maintain peace, cooperation, and development in the East Sea, and contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries.
