Vietnam, Turkey aim to raise bilateral trade to 4 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Turkey aim to work closely to raise bilateral trade to 4 billion USD in the near future, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz at a press conference after holding their talks on Wednesday.

At the press conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said the leaders of the two countries agreed on the great potential for bilateral cooperation. They affirmed the determination of the States, Governments and peoples of the two countries to further promote comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Turkey.

The two sides agreed on measures to further improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and investment. They agreed to strengthen relations and increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, work closely at international organizations and forums, and soon complete the opening of the Turkish Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam and Turkey agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, Halal industry, agriculture, and tourism. The two sides also agreed to start negotiations on the Vietnam - Turkey Free Trade Agreement soon and work closely to raise bilateral trade to 4 billion USD in the near future.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the current tense situation in the Middle East region.

At the press conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vice President of Turkey witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between the two countries.
