In an interview with a Voice of Vietnam reporter in Egypt, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Thanh Diep said the visit means a lot in strengthening political trust; elevating Vietnam's relationship with the UAE, creating momentum and expanding a new phase of cooperation, especially in attracting UAE investment to Vietnam and creating a breakthrough for Vietnamese goods and services to access the Gulf market.

 “During the visit, the two sides will focus on plans to upgrade relations and enhance cooperation at global and regional forums and organizations. They are expected to sign Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), organize the Business Forum, create a breakthrough in economic, trade and investment relations, promote people-to-people exchanges, boost cooperation in security, education, labor, climate change and environment and other fields. Both sides will also promote the signing of cooperation documents to strengthen the legal framework for bilateral cooperation,” said Diep.

With the upgrading of relations and the signing of CEPA, great prospects will open up for the two countries, as Ambassador Diep put it.

“The CEPA will be the legal basis to further joint economic cooperation between the two countries, through reducing or eliminating tariffs on many types of goods and services, access markets, promote FDI capital flows and create new opportunities for the business communities of both countries. Cooperation will be boosted when the CEPA process opens in trade, investment, economy, industry, energy, logistics, agriculture and infrastructure, high technology, digital transformation, green transformation, innovation, labor, and tourism.”

The ambassador stressed the need to quickly develop the Halal market in Vietnam, support businesses to produce and export Halal products, and support Vietnamese goods to access the supply chain of the UAE and the region. Efforts should be made to accelerate information sharing, connection and consulting on potential projects or partners of the two countries, he added.
