Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam said Vietnam’s revised Law on Fisheries has taken into consideration the EC’s recommendations on illegal fishing. Legal documents have integrated international rules including FAO’s Code of Conduct on Responsible Fisheries, FAO’s International Action Plan against Illegal Fishing, Agreement of Port States, and Fish Migration Agreement.
Functional agencies have popularized fishing regulations to fishermen in coastal provinces, including Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang province, to prevent illegal activities.
