Vietnam urges protection of civilians in areas of conflict amid COVID-19 pandemic

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is calling on countries to protect citizens in nations affected by violent conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic, said Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, during a UN Security Council online meeting on Wednesday.

He urged countries to fully implement Resolution 2532 and the UN Secretary General’s call for a ceasefire and focus on protecting civilians in countries experiencing armed conflicts and humanitarian crises. Ambassador Quy called on countries to strengthen unity, closely cooperate at all levels in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and maintain peacekeeping activities.
