Speaking at the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc, Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, underscored the significance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's views on culture, describing it as the spiritual foundation of society and the goal, the power, and the crucial driver for national development.

Mr. Ngoc emphasized Vietnam's collaboration with the World Heritage Center and advisory bodies, integrating the Convention's principles into Vietnam’s legal framework in alignment with sustainable socio-economic development.

Mr. Ngoc called on UNESCO and member countries to bolster international cooperation, effectively implement the Convention, and prioritize experience sharing and capacity building for developing countries, African nations, and small island developing states.

He also stressed the importance of community involvement, including women and youth, in heritage conservation efforts. Vietnam pledged to contribute to the World Heritage Fund and support members in leveraging heritage values as a catalyst for peace, sustainable development, and a bridge to the future.

Vishal V. Sharma, Chairman of the World Heritage Committee expressed appreciation for Mr. Ngoc's message. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the leaders and people of Vietnam, as well as to the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong over the Party leader’s passing.
