Meeting with US Ambassador Marc Knapper in Hanoi on Monday, Deputy Minister Chien said the US should prioritize direct support to Vietnamese partners and international organizations and expand its assistance to other contaminated localities other than central provinces.

Ambassador Knapper said since Vietnam and the US signed an MoU on overcoming the aftermath of bombs and mines in 2013, the US has honored its commitments including direct and indirect assistance through international organizations and NGOs.

Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has cleared nearly 500,000 ha of contaminated land, he added.
