He said the US applauded the Vietnamese government’s efforts to control the spread of the disease.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will donate 37 million USD to help Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia combat the epidemic, Mr. Ngoc said.

The US has praised Vietnam’s role as the ASEAN Chair in 2020 and is discussing with Vietnam and other ASEAN members ways to boost US-ASEAN cooperation in the fight against Covid-19.

The US is also considering importing Vietnamese-made medical equipment to combat the disease in the US, Ambassador Ngoc said, insisting that the US has no plans to stop importing Vietnamese garments and textiles, despite rumors.
