At the 2025 US-Vietnam Business Summit in Hanoi, Deputy PM Son summarized the Vietnam-US relationship in five key phrases: strategic trust, comprehensive cooperation, win-win development, responsible partners, and shaping the future.
"In an era of connectivity, extensive integration, technologies, and innovation, our cooperation in digital transformation, science-technology, and innovation is a key pillar of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It is a foundation that will help the two countries achieve breakthroughs and build a green and sustainable future in the digital age."
According to Deputy PM Son, Vietnam remains a bright spot in the region in terms of growth and is among the world's fastest-growing economies. Vietnamese is focusing on implementing its key policies to build a solid economic foundation ahead of the new era, he said.
He called on Vietnamese and American businesses to strengthen cooperation in semiconductors and high technology; clean energy, green growth, offshore wind, solar, and hydrogen power, as well as energy storage and smart grids. They were also suggested to cooperate in strategic supply chains and regional logistics connectivity; innovation, digital transformation, e-commerce, cross-border e-payments, as well as education, training, and technology transfer.
At the summit, US Assistant Secretary of State Michael DeSombre said Vietnam can potentially attract even more foreign direct investment. Thus, US companies are willing to invest in and partner with Vietnamese businesses.
"With one of the fastest growing export markets, Vietnam offers US firms big opportunities for expanded sales and collaborations in the agricultural, defense, energy, healthcare, and technological sectors. The United States is Vietnam's No.1 export market, and Vietnam is our 8th largest trading partner overall. When finalized, the US-Vietnam agreement on reciprocal, fair, and balanced trade will re-balance trade, strengthen our bilateral economic relationship, and provide both countries' exporters unprecedented access to each other's markets."
Themed “A new era of development for mutually beneficial commercial relations,” the 2025 US-Vietnam Business Summit discussed institutional breakthroughs that drive growth, investment, and innovation, building strategic infrastructure for development, and promoting an open, active, and innovative economy.
