The Army Games 2021 concluded on Saturday, marking the first time ever Vietnam has hosted the “Sniper Frontier” and “Emergency Area.”

Team Vietnam won the gold medal in the Sniper Frontier competition of the International Army Games 2021.

The contest, hosted by The Ministry of Defense in Hanoi, saw eight teams of seven nationalities, with Vietnam sending two teams, competing against each other in four different stages in four days. Uzbekistan won the silver and Russia the bronze in the competition.

Vietnam also brought home the silver for the “Emergency Area” contest, which had six teams of five nations competing. Russia won first place and Belarus arrived third in the competition that was also hosted in Hanoi.

Deputy Commander in Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, Head of the Organizing Board, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia said the competition took place on schedule with absolute safety with the Ministry of Defense serving as host for the first time, symbolizing friendship unity, trust and fine tradition of the countries’ armed forces.

“Vietnam hosted two competition events in the framework of the 2021 Army Games, reflecting our development in the People’s Army’s international integration and national defense external relations as well as the Party and the State’s foreign policy of multilateralism and diversification. Vietnam is a friend and responsible member in the world community. The event also shows Russia’s support to Vietnam,” said Mr. Nghia.
