Vietnam wins 60,000 ton rice contract with Philippines
(VOVWORLD) - The Philippines on Monday bought 300,000 tons of rice from Vietnam, India, Thailand and Myanmar.
Vietnam will ship 60,000 tons at more than 490 USD per ton. Vietnam resumed rice exports in mid-April after a three-week suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam’s rice exports in the first 5 months of 2020 totalled 2.9 million tons, worth 1.4 billion USD.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade says that with competitive prices and strong export turnover, Vietnam has a great opportunity to surpass Thailand in rice exports this year.
