Vietnam wins big at Mnet Asian Music Awards 2020

(VOVWORLD) - Local artists, including singer Amee, dancer Quang Dang, and rapper Binz, have been honored at an online awards ceremony held as part of the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2020) in the Republic of Korea.

Leading the way at the event was 20-year-old Amee who won the title of the Best New Asian Artist in Vietnam. The Hanoi born girl, whose real name is Tran Huyen My, became the youngest Vietnamese artist to receive the award.

First beginning her career in 2018, Huyen My has picked up notable recognition since, such as having a music video with the most views as seen through YouTube Rewind 2019, winning best new artist at the Zing Music Awards 2019, and claiming the Best New Artist of the Year at Cong Hien Music Awards 2020.

Elsewhere at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards online ceremony, the title of Best Choreographer of the Year went to local dancer Quang Dang.

After receiving the award, Dang shared an online video message at the ceremony stating that his success is mostly thanks to his relatives and supporters.

Dang originally became popular for his handwashing dance which was released in March amidst the height of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in Vietnam.

Finally, rapper Binz, whose real name is Le Nguyen Trung Dan, 32, was named as the Best Asian Artist after a successful breakout year. 

The annual MAMA awards are held to honor talented artists for their great contributions to musical development in Asia.
