Vietnam wins first silver medal at ASIAD 2018

(VOVWORLD) - Weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan won the first silver medal for Vietnam at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 (ASIAD) in Indonesia yesterday.

With a total lift of 280kg, Tuan was defeated by Om Yun-chol from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, who lifted 7kg higher than him, in the men’s 56kg category.

Yesterday, the Vietnamese delegation also won another bronze medal after swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang finished third in the men’s 800m freestyle.
As of 8:30 pm yesterday, Vietnam ranked 16th in the medal tally with one silver and three bronze medals. China still topped the rankings.
