Receiving Mariam Sherman, World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, on Friday, Mr. Hoan urged continued acceleration of the Strategic Partnership Framework between the WB and Vietnam, particularly in the agricultural sector, and support for improving scientific research and building institutions.
He praised the ongoing pilot project to develop 1 million hectares of low-carbon, high-quality rice in the Mekong Delta by 2030, with support from the WB, highlighting the project as a symbol of cooperation between the two sides.
Sherman expressed hope that the WB-Vietnam partnership will achieve its goals. She reaffirmed the WB’s commitment to implementing the agreed-upon cooperation agenda and programs and said the WB is ready to support Vietnam by providing policy research and advisory services, and capacity-building assistance, to help it realise its development goals.
