Vietnam-China committee for bilateral cooperation holds 7th meeting

The two sides agreed to join efforts to boost cooperation exchanges between the two countries and effectively realize the action program on the Vietnam-China strategic cooperation; urgently establish a Working group on infrastructure cooperation and a Working group on monetary cooperation to increase bilateral affiliation in related fields. Minh and his guest also underlined the need to properly implement three documents on the land border between Vietnam and China, and work together on dealing with problems arising from border management. The two officials said satisfactorily resolving maritime issues was of great importance for bilateral relations. Both sides consented to properly implement senior leaders’ common perceptions based on the agreement on the basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues between Vietnam and China and promote mechanisms for maritime negotiations. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed Vietnam’s recognition of the high importance to developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. Minh emphasized the Vietnamese Party and State’s stance on the East Sea issue and affirmed that Vietnam always prioritized the peaceful settlement of disputes and differences in the East Sea on the basis of respect for the common perception of the two countries’ senior leaders, the basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues between Vietnam and China, international law, particularly  the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOLS)  and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
