Vietnamese agriculture faces new opportunities and challenges
(VOVworld) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has held a consultation workshop with foreign donors and non-governmental organizations on new challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Speaking at the event in Hanoi on Thursday, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat said Vietnam has seen increasing revenue generated from agricultural exports following 6 years of joining the World Trade Organization and several free trade agreements.
Vietnam earned 27.5 billion dollars from agricultural exports last year, representing a 2.5% rise from 2006. Minister Phat said Vietnam has become major world exporters of rice, seafood, coffee and pepper:“The agricultural sector will promote restructuring towards more added value and sustainable development. This will ensure successful international integration by the sector. The Ministry has developed an international integration strategy by 2020 with a vision until 2030 to maximize international economic benefits and minimize negative impact on farmers.”
Donors and investors praised Vietnam’s agricultural achievements in ensuring a sustainable growth for the economy and contribution to world food security”.
