(VOVworld) - Ambassador Ha Thi Ngoc Ha has conveyed a letter of Vietnamese National Assembly’s Foreign Relations Committee to her Chilean counterpart denouncing China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s waters.

The letter urgently informed about China’s deployment of military vessels and airplanes escorting oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 deep into Vietnam’s special economic zone and continental shelf.
The ambassador asked the  Chairman of the Chilean Senate Foreign Relations Commission Juan Pablo Letelier Morel to strongly oppose China’s wrongful act and demand an immediate withdrawal of the oil rig and escort ships so that related parties could discuss the stabilization of maritime issues. The Chilean chairman was deeply concerned about the Chinese illegal placement of its oil rig and pledged unity with Vietnam.
