Vietnamese Embassy in Russia provides support to Vietnamese fleeing from Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - The Embassy of Vietnam in Russia will continue to work closely with Russian agencies to safely receive Vietnamese fleeing to Russia from eastern Ukraine, according to Embassy Counsellor Nguyen Tung Lam.

The Vietnamese Embassy said Monday that 70 Vietnamese remain in Kherson and 80 more in Mariupol.

The Embassy and the Vietnamese Association in Krasnodar have received 14 Vietnamese citizens who fled from Kherson to Krasnodar. The group, which includes three children, were the first Vietnamese to leave Kherson on a special convoy organized by the Russian Defense Ministry to evacuate civilians through a humanitarian corridor.

The convoy was escorted by Russian soldiers and armored vehicles throughout the journey.
