Vietnamese President meets with leaders of Boeing, Apple

(VOVWORLD) -President Vo Van Thuong received in San Francisco on Wednesday CEO of Apple Tim Cook and Dr. Brendan Nelson, Senior Vice President of the US-based Boeing Company while he is in the US for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and bilateral activities.

At the meetings, President Thuong reiterated that Vietnam is open, sincere and eager to learn from the experience and recommendations of investors to fine-tune its institutions and policies and improve its investment environment. He called on Apple and Boeing to strengthen their investments in Vietnam.

Tim Cook said Vietnam is part of Apple’s special business strategy, commenting that Vietnam needs to continue improving its system of standards for the application of 5G technology, refining its legal framework to support digital economic development, and carefully consider factors related to the application and development of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Brendan Nelson, Senior Vice President of the US‑based Boeing Company said Boeing is committed to building an aviation ecosystem in Vietnam, concentrating on developing aviation infrastructure, training human resources, and building airports, maintenance facilities and repair companies.

He expressed his hope that with its experience, Boeing will assist Vietnam in training pilots, technicians, flight service personnel, and aviation safety managers.
