(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong held talks with the Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung on Thursday in Gyeongju city, as part of his working trip to the Republic of Korea to attend the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week,

During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to continue promoting high-level exchanges and delegation visits through various channels, effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms, and substantially realize signed agreements between the two countries, particularly those reached during Party General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to South Korea in August 2025.
They affirmed their commitment to advancing mutually beneficial economic cooperation in line with both sides’ development goals, aiming for tangible and comprehensive progress.
President Luong Cuong proposed that both sides work closely to raise bilateral trade to 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable manner. He reaffirmed that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for Korean businesses to operate long-term in the country.
President Lee Jae Myung emphasized that the Republic of Korea continues to regard Vietnam as a key strategic partner in economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
He announced plans to increase labor quotas and expand occupational categories for Vietnamese workers, expressed readiness to enhance technology transfer and support the development of Vietnam’s supporting industries, and pledged continued assistance for Korean enterprises to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in priority sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and new urban development.
Both leaders also agreed to make cooperation in science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and human resource development a new pillar of bilateral relations. In addition, they affirmed their intention to strengthen collaboration in education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges to foster deeper mutual understanding and stronger bonds between the two nations.
