Vietnamese top leader’s State visit to China opens new chapter in bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary and President To Lam's just concluded State visit to China is a historic one that inherits the past and opens up a new chapter in bilateral relations, a Chinese expert said.

Xu Liping, Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS), said that the visit creates additional motives for the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations, and promotes a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Mr. Lam’s activities during his visit, including meetings with high-ranking Chinese leaders and working sessions at the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China and technology firms reflects Lam’s strategic and substantive vision.

Xu stressed that Lam’s visit has contributed to enhancing strategic communications and discussions between the two Parties and high-ranking leaders of the two nations, as well as improving confidence in each other that helps to create a sound political environment in which to carry out future cooperation. It has also enhanced Chinese investors’ trust in the Vietnamese market and bolstered ongoing cooperation projects.

Mr. Xu said a highlight of the visit was Lam’s visit to Guangzhou city, which coincided with the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s arrival to the city from Moscow for revolutionary activities, the scholar said, describing it as a history lesson for both nations.

Lam and his host chatted over tea, an activity which Xu said symbolized the cultural similarities between the two nations, which provide a cultural basis for building a community with a shared future.
