Vietnamese top legislator starts Europe tour
(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese NA left Hanoi on Sunday morning for the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Austria.

Hue and the Vietnamese delegation will also pay working visits to the European Parliament and Belgium, and an official visit to Finland during their trip from September 5-11.
The visits are being made at the invitations of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco, President of the Austrian National Council Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the European Parliament David Sassoli and Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Anu Vehvilainen.
This is the first Europe tour by a high-ranking leader of the Vietnamese Party and State following the 13th National Party Congress and two years of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The visit is expected to enhance Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, multilateralization, and diversification and improve Vietnam's image and international status.
The highlight of Mr. Hue's visit is the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Austria which is held amid the recovery of European countries in the post-pandemic. The conference draws 114 Parliament Speakers and 30 Deputy Speakers. Mr. Hue will deliver a speech at the plenary session and attend discussions on sustainable development, enhancing multilateralism in COVID-19 response and post-pandemic recovery, economic transformation, climate change response, and environmental protection.
During the visitm Mr. Hue will meet the Vietnamese community in Europe.
