This high-level visit shows the expectation of both sides to substantively consolidate and develop their Strategic Partnership, which was established in 2015, said Mr. Dato Tan Yang Thai, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam.

In an interview with the Voice of Vietnam on Wednesday, the Ambassador emphasized that Malaysia values strong and substantive relationship with Vietnam and commits to jointly expand relations in the coming time. He added that the two countries now have a Joint Committee on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Joint Trade Committee. Through the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Vietnam visit, the two sides can explore new areas of cooperation by promoting the establishment of the joint committee mechanism, he said.

“It is important that the two sides can focus on boosting stronger and more sustainable two-way trade, while continuously looking for ways to cooperate more closely in such areas as agricultural and livestock products, aquaculture, the halal Muslim food industry, and electronic components."

"Bilateral relations should also pay special attention to people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges, education, sports and tourism. Close bilateral cooperation will benefit the people of the two countries and the ASEAN region,” according to Dato Tan Yang Thai.
