Vietnam’s 2017 economic growth surpasses plans

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam’s GDP growth rate for 2017 is estimated to be 6.81%, higher than forecast of 6.7%, due to the drastic measures of the government and local authorities.

Nguyen Bich Lam, Head of the General Statistics Office, told a  media conference in Hanoi on Wednesday that GDP in the first quarter increased 5.15%, second quarter 6.2%, third quarter 7.4%, and 4th quarter surged 7.6%.

Among sectors, agro-forestry and seafood grew 2.9%, contributing a 0.44 percentage point to the national GDP. Industry and construction grew 8% and service 7.4%.
