(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s aquatic exports this year are expected to hit 11 billion USD, according to the latest data of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Shrimp export turnover has reached 4.3 billion USD, up 30%, while Tra fish (pangasius) exports have exceeded 2 billion USD, up 80% and are likely to exceed 2.5 billion USD by the end of the year. Tuna exports hit the 1 billion USD mark for the first time. The export turnover of aquatic products grew at double-digit rates, between 18 and 77%.
Truong Dinh Hoe, VASEP Secretary General, said Vietnam's aquatic exports have fully recovered after COVID-19.
The European Union, the US, China, and Japan account for 74% of Vietnam's total aquatic export turnover.
For the first time, Vietnam’s seafood exports to the US market have reached 2 billion USD and the UK has become the 7th largest market for Vietnam’s aquatic product exports.
