Vietnam’s big goals accomplished in 9 months despite global uncertainty, says PM

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung told the meeting that in the third quarter, Vietnam’s growth rate topped 13.6%, the highest growth rate in the region, and the trade and tourism sectors have recovered quickly.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said: “In the past 9 months, the world and the region has experienced rapid, unpredictable and unprecedented changes plus unusual and complicated natural disasters, storms and floods. However, we have accomplished our big goals: stabilizing the macro-economy, controlling inflation, promoting growth, ensuring major balances, improving people’s lives; safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; national security, political stability, social order and safety. We have done well in foreign affairs in line with the international situation.”  

The Prime Minister pointed out the causes and lessons learned, emphasizing the guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State; the great national unity, the spirit of self-reliance to taking difficulties and challenges as the motivation to rise; steadfastness in our goals but adapting flexibly, decisively and effectively.

Prime Minister Chinh called the last months of 2022 the "sprint" time to "reach the finish line". He requested maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, promoting growth, and ensuring major balances of the economy. Efforts should be made to implement prudent and flexible monetary policy, ensuring security and safety in terms of currency, credit, finance, public debt, energy, food and information, he said.

The PM urged for strengthening management and control of prices of essential goods and services, especially at year-ends, holidays, and New Year, closely monitoring global and regional developments, and strengthening analysis and forecast.

He also requested a focus on culture, cultural environment, cultural life on a par with economy and society, well implement policies on people with meritorious services, ensure social security, improve people's life, especially in remote, border, island and ethnic minority areas.
