Tran Van Huynh, a tourist, said, “I’m from Thai Binh, a Red River delta province. As soon as I knew about this water splashing festival, I decided to come here to have fun and discover the white Thai culture. Phong Tho has huge potential for tourism development and so does Lai Chau province in general. Come here and discover yourselves.”

The event attracted 5,000 participants from different ethnic groups: Thai, Dao, Mong, and Kinh, who got to know each other much better thanks to this festival.

Vuong The Man, Chairman of the People’s Council of Phong Tho district, told VOV, “The water splashing festival is part of the Then Kin Pang festival which also include the hair washing festival and a ‘Xoe’ folk dance night. The number of tourists attracted to this 3-day event was beyond our expectation. This year’s festival is truly a success. Phong Tho district expects to welcome more and more tourists.”

The Then Kin Pang festival will be followed by a series of colorful activities of the Lai Chau Culture Tourism Week that will end this Sunday.
