The EU is Vietnam’s biggest export market,  with export turnover of 1.3 billion USD, up 50 % since last year, followed by the US and ASEAN. At a press conference yesterday/ on Monday, Phan Thi Dieu Ha, Deputy Head of the Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said signs are good but difficulties remain:"There are still many difficulties in Vietnam’s key export markets. Many protective policies and trade barriers have been applied by countries importing goods from Vietnam. To achieve the Government’s export growth target of 10% and export turnover of 126 billion USD this year is a heavy task so the Government, ministries and businesses need to exert further efforts"

Vo Van Quyen, Head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s  Domestic Market Department  highlighted the high demand for goods and price controls during the Tet holiday: "The supply of meat and vegetables especially in Hanoi and HCMC is enough to meet  the high consumer demand. Before and after the Tet holiday, some essential goods might increase in price. This is normal and doesn’t reflect an imbalance between supply and demand"
