Vietnam’s Party leader and President meets with leaders of Communist Party USA

(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary and State President To Lam met with leaders of the Communist Party USA, other left-wing organizations in the US, and friends of Vietnam in New York on Sunday during his trip to the US to attend the High-level Week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting was attended by delegates from multiple US states, who shared their warm feelings and support for Vietnam over the years.

Rossana Cambron, Co-chair of the Communist Party USA said she is impressed by the modern, prosperous Vietnam with a socialist-oriented market economy, which she said is a model of sustainable growth and an example of turning the theory of socialist society into reality. She said she would like to strengthen relations between the two Parties.

John McAuliff, Executive Director of the Fund for Reconciliation and Development said he is impressed by the post-war reconciliation between Vietnam and the US, and the strong development in all fields within the framework of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He said he would like Vietnam to share its experience to promote reconciliation and development between people.

Party leader and State President Lam expressed his respect and gratitude for the support and affection that US communists, friends and others have given the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

He affirmed the policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, friendship and development in Vietnam's relations with other countries, including the US, emphasizing that Vietnam actively contributes to peace and reconciliation in the world and engages in solving the shared challenges humankind is facing.

Mr. Lam conferred Vietnam’s Friendship Order on individuals who have made important contributions to strengthening relations between the peoples of the two countries.
