Vietnam-UK Free Trade Agreement fully exploited

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh says the UK is one of Vietnam’s leading trade partners in Europe and that the two countries need to work closely to fully exploit the Vietnam-UK Free Trade Agreement.

At a reception in Hanoi on Thursday for UK Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward, the Prime Minister urged the UK to open its door wider for Vietnamese exports and continue to create conditions for the Vietnamese community in the UK.

Prime Minister Chinh thanked the British government and people to supporting vaccine for Vietnam and wanted the two countries to enhance cooperation in health care. He asked the UK to continue to support Vietnam with vaccine, medical supplies, vaccine production technology transfer, and COVID-19 treatment medicines.

Ambassador Gareth Ward said the UK will deliver more vaccine to Vietnam through the COVAX facility and provide Vietnam with medical equipment. He said the UK considers Vietnam an important partner in the region and that he will encourage British businesses to expand investment in Vietnam and cooperate with and help Vietnam promote clean energy and access green finance to develop renewable energy projects. The Ambassador stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and aviation, security, and peace in the East Sea and settling disputes in line with international law.
