Vietnam-US Business Summit to open in May

(VOVWORLD) -Charles Freeman, US Chamber of Commerce (USCC)’s Vice President, has said he looks forward to the visit by Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong to the US and the USCC’s headquarters in the near future.

Mr. Freeman made the statement at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in Hanoi on Friday. He added the USCC is working closely with the Vietnamese ministries and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to release the White Book on the future of the Vietnam-US trade ties and organize a business summit between the two countries in May this year. Mr. Freeman said the USCC in interested in market opening and support free trade and the US’s opening of its market for Vietnamese businesses and vice versa.

Deputy Prime Minister Hue urged the USCC and Vietnamese agencies and businesses to continue working on initiatives to strengthen investment and trade ties as reflected in the White Book to be released by the USCC. He said Vietnam takes into account US businesses’ proposals in order to boost cooperation between the two countries’ businesses.
