Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; ambassadors and chargés d’affaires; representatives of international organizations in Vietnam; and delegations from the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training, Lao National Radio, Cambodia’s Ministry of Information, and the National Radio of Cambodia. Party General Secretary To Lam sent a congratulatory letter.
The celebration began with an art performance and a documentary retracing VOV’s 80-year journey. VOV President Do Tien Sy affirmed that, building on its glorious tradition, VOV’s staff have strived to develop the broadcaster into a strong, modern, multi-platform, and multi-media organization.
Looking ahead, VOV has identified its role as a major and pioneering channel guiding public opinion, a trusted forum for supervision and social criticism, and a vital bridge between the Party, State, and the people. It also seeks to create social consensus, strengthen public trust in Vietnam’s revolutionary path, and foster friendship with international partners, he noted.
In his address, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised VOV’s contributions over 80 challenging yet glorious years, saying it has truly become “the Voice of the nation” - the voice of independence, freedom, the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam - as well as a trusted friend of the international community.
“In a rapidly changing global media landscape, VOV has continually innovated to keep pace with international integration, digital transformation, and global information competition. It has capitalized on its strengths to serve audiences nationwide, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends,” he said.
VOV also takes pride in broadcasting in 12 foreign languages, with multilingual channels and programs that transcend borders and cultural differences, building bridges of friendship and promoting Vietnam’s image worldwide, the Government leader emphasized.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Chinh, on behalf of the Party and State, presented VOV with the Ho Chi Minh Order. This is the third time that VOV has been honored with this distinction.
Mr. Chinh also offered eight guiding principles for VOV’s future development: Steadfastness, Objectivity, Comprehensiveness, Timeliness, Identity, Digitalization, Creativity, and Effectiveness.
