(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese government is ready to work closely with the World Bank (WB) to improve its investment climate and competitiveness. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the remarks while receiving WB Vietnam Country Director Victoria Kwakwa in Hanoi on Thursday to discuss closer cooperation between Vietnam and the bank. Dung said Vietnam has been carrying out specific incentives to help foreign businesses resume normal operation, following the recent disturbances in some localities sparked by China’s brazen illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone. He called China’s act a serious infringement of international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) and a direct threat to peace, stability, security, and safe navigation in the East Sea. Kwakwa asked the Vietnamese government to continue working to consolidate foreign investors’ trust. She said the WB is always ready to help Vietnam improve its investment environment and secure development assistance sources for Vietnam.
