WB official optimistic about Vietnam's 2022 growth prospect
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's target of GDP growth of 6-6.5% next year is entirely feasible if it can effectively control COVID-19 and ensure the supply-demand balance, according to a World Bank (WB) official.

Jacques Morisset, WB Lead Economist and Program Leader for Vietnam, said the biggest risk to Vietnam’s economy in 2022 would be the pandemic with the emergence of new variants.
Regarding internal economic risks, he said that Vietnam is an open economy which will depend on the situation in other countries.
Morisset pointed out new motivations for Vietnam’s growth including the country’s status as a reliable destination for large foreign enterprises seeking to diversify their supply chains, the development of the green economy, and growing domestic demand.
He affirmed that the WB will continue to support Vietnam in achieving its ambitious goal of becoming a high-income and prosperous country by 2045.
The bank is working closely with the Vietnamese Government to promote sustainable development and effectively respond to climate change in the Mekong Delta region, and reduce air pollution in big cities, he said.
