The entire Congolese capital of Kinshasa, 7.7 million people, was been vaccinated in less than 10 days, as well as 3 million people in border areas to prevent transmission from Angola, and another 3 million on the Angolan side of the border, where a second phase of vaccinations will be carried out soon. Briand said the disease appeared to have been spreading in Congo, with more than 2,600 cases reported. According to the WHO, as of September, the number of deaths from yellow fever was 121 in Angola and 16 in Congo.
