(VOVWORLD) - The COVID-19 pandemic will get much worse if too many countries continue in the wrong direction, the WHO warned Monday.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said coronavirus infections around the world surpassed 13 million on Monday and have killed more than half a million people in six-and-a-half months.
“The virus remains public enemy number one, but the actions of many governments and people do not reflect this. The only aim of the virus is to find people to infect. Mixed messages from leaders are undermining the most critical ingredient of any response: trust,” said WHO chief.
In addition to hot spots like the US, Brazil, India and Mexico, the world is seeing a second and third wave of corona virus infections in places thought to have contained the pandemic. Manila and many parts of Europe are set to go back into lockdown this week.
