UK media reports on UK pilot returning home from Vietnam after treatment

(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnam Airlines flight carrying British pilot Stephen Cameron, Vietnam’s most seriously ill COVID-19 patient, landed in Heathrow Airport in London on Sunday.

The Guardian said Cameron, who spent more than two months on a ventilator in Vietnamese hospitals after contracting COVID-19, has recovered and has returned home. He was the sickest patient treated during the coronavirus outbreak in Vietnam, which so far has recorded no COVID-19 deaths, thanks to a rapid and decisive response to the pandemic.

BBC news has been reporting Cameron’s recovery in detail. Cameron said if he had been almost anywhere else on the planet, he would be dead.

Sky News television said Vietnam has recorded 370 coronavirus cases, and has not seen a locally transmitted infection in nearly 3 months. All current patients were infected abroad and were placed in government quarantine facilities upon arrival in Vietnam.
