WHO committed to supporting Vietnam in COVID-19 fight
(VOVWORLD) -Though The World Health Organization has declared an end to the COVID emergency, the pandemic is ongoing and has not become less dangerous, the WHO representative in Vietnam said at a press conference in Hanoi on Monday.

Angela Pratt said that Vietnam should gear up its healthcare system to be ready for any possible worsening of the situation. She suggested that Vietnam add the COVID-19 vaccine to its national expanded program of immunization, closely monitor any new variants, and ensure adequate vaccines and diagnostic and therapeutic facilities for the long term. She said the WHO is committed to supporting Vietnam in fighting COVID-19.
Professor Dr. Phan Trong Lan, director of the Health Ministry's Department of Preventive Medicine, told the media that Vietnam has appropriately responded to the pandemic situation in each period. The Ministry is implementing and reviewing guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, directing medical facilities to detect and monitor early cases, and strengthen the capacity of the emergency resuscitation unit. Vietnam is always ready to improve professional capacity and flexibly respond to the pandemic, Lan said.
Vietnam had recorded 11.5 million COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, 13th globally. 10.6 million have recovered. More than 43,000 have died. As of Sunday, Vietnam had administered 266.2 million vaccine doses.
