(VOVworld) – The death toll from the Ebola epidemic has surpassed 11,000, according to the WHO’s latest report on Wednesday. In the three worst-affected countries - Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea - 26,593 people have been infected and 11,005 have died.
Liberia recorded the highest number of deaths with 4,716, followed by Sierra Leone with 3,903 and Guinea with 2,386.

The WHO said efforts to stop the Ebola virus in these 3 countries have been encouraging. Last week Guinea and Sierra Leone reported only 9 new infections each, while there was no new case in Liberia. The WHO is poised to declare this Saturday that the epidemic is over in Liberia, unless a new case is reported before then.
