During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi, the WHO official also spoke highly of Vietnam’s ‘door to door’ campaign to get everyone vaccinated, saying that this is one of the most effective ways to increase vaccine coverage.

Prime Minister Chinh said Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with the WHO, and thanked the WHO for its important support. Mr. Chinh asked the WHO and Mr. Kasai personally to help Vietnam with vaccines and medicines, especially the domestic production of COVID-19 vaccines.

During the meeting, Kidong Park, WHO Representative to Vietnam, praised Vietnam’s approach in increasing the vaccination rate, and its policy to strengthen grassroots-level healthcare and preventive medicine – which will be useful not only against COVID-19, but also in dealing with future implications of an ageing population.

The WHO officials said they believe that Vietnam will become a regional and global-level exemplary model in healthcare.
