WHO pledges to help Vietnam live safely with COVID-19
(VOVWORLD) - The World Health Organisation (WHO) will continue to work with the Government of Vietnam to plan for and transition towards endemic COVID-19 and living safely with the virus long term, even if there are new surges, said Dr. Kidong Park, WHO Representative in Vietnam.

The focus will be on protecting the vulnerable and avoiding the ‘red line’ where health services get overwhelmed, said Dr. Park. He added that as Vietnam transitions to safe and flexible adaptation to COVID-19, it is critical to keep up a strong public health response of vaccination and calibrated public health and social measures.
Mr. Park expressed admiration for the persistent commitment of localities, the excellent work of community COVID-19 teams, and the Vietnamese people, for doing their share to fight the virus by consistently following health measures and getting vaccinated when it was their turn.
He said the WHO will support the Vietnamese Ministry of Health in revising technical guidelines to reflect the latest evidence, concerning diagnosis and treatment, infection prevention and control, ensuring the safety of health workers, and ICU care for COVID-19 patients.
