Women’s World Cup Trophy to stop over in Vietnam early March

(VOVWORLD) -The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy will stop over in Vietnam for the first time on March 4 and 5 as part of its global tour to promote the football tournament in Australia and New Zealand in July, according to the World Football Federation (FIFA).

The tour will kick off on February 25 and its first destiantion will be Japan. The golden trophy will then visit 29 participating countries of the tournament.

After a journey around the continents, from June 2 to July 14, the iconic trophy will tour nine host cities of the Women’s World Cup, which will open on July 20.

According to the draw results, the Vietnamese women's team are in Group E along with the defending champions US, the Netherlands, and the winner of Group A in the intercontinental playoffs. Vietnam will face the US in their first match in the tournament at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 20.
